Health Advocates Network RN - Cardiac Telemetry - Bismarck in Bismarck, North Dakota

  1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.

Nursing staff that can take post cath patients, titrate intervenous cardiac medications, and care for other cardiac patients.

  1. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)

We use the EPIC computerized charting system, Accudose for medications, API for timecards.

  1. Required skills and minimum years of experience.

Minimum of 2-3 years experience with cardiac patients.

  1. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

ACLS, BLS

  1. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)

The employee would work with 2 other nurses on a 12 bed unit. Call is not required. Every third weekend is required, 12 hr shifts, day and night shifts. (0700-1900,1900-0700)

  1. Floating to over units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)

The telemetry unit works with the observation unit- a 6 bed unit that takes care of patients with an estimated 12-48hr length of stay. It would be possible to float there, we would not require floating to any other department unless the traveler wished to do so and the census was low.

  1. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.

12 bed unit, staffed with 3 nurses, and aid, and a telemetry tech.

  1. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)

  1. Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.

The unit department specific training consists of: reviewing information on the cardiac drips run on the unit and taking a short test with scenarios, signing off on the orientation packet, completing a first day checklist, and a sign off on heart rhythms.
